Dr. Bart Denys graduated Summa Cum Laude from Leuven Medical School in his native Belgium in 1982, with postgraduate certification and high honors in sports medicine. Following residencies in internal medicine and cardiology at Leuven University Hospital, where he also served as a staff cardiologist, Dr. Denys completed a fellowship in cardiology at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania.
Upon completion of his fellowship, Dr. Denys was appointed assistant professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh, becoming associate professor of medicine and director of interventional cardiology research, before joining the CIS medical staff as medical director in Thibodaux.
Dr. Denys is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology in both the United States and Belgium. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society of Cardiac Angiography and Interventions. He is also a member of the American College of Physicians, the Association of Clinical Research Professionals, and the American College of Sports Medicine.
Dr. Denys is a licensed medical acupuncturist and Medical Director of Pharmaceutical Research. He is also considered one of the foremost physicians in pharmacological research. He has published scores of articles in medical journals and has made many presentations, both nationally and internationally.
