LAFAYETTE-- To promote education on women’s heart health, Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) is hosting a Women’s Wine and Wellness Event on Thursday, January 28 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the CIS Lafayette clinic located at 2730 Ambassador Caffery Parkway.
The event is free and will feature screenings for ankle brachial index (ABI). These simple, painless screenings test the blood flow in the legs to determine your risk for heart disease. Screening results will be available on site, and CIS cardiologists will be available to answer questions and provide risk assessments. The event will also include hors d’oeuvres, red wine sampling, mini massages, and many door prizes from your favorite Lafayette hot spots! This is an opportunity for women to relax and unwind while monitoring their health at the same time.
Heart disease is the number one killer of American women. These free screenings and presentations are provided to encourage the women of Lafayette to learn the risk factors of heart disease and what steps are needed to reduce them. Adapting a heart-healthy lifestyle and receiving appropriate medical care can help prevent cardiovascular disease. If you experience pain in your legs such as cramping or swelling, consult a doctor about your risk of cardiovascular disease.
For more information about the screening, please call CIS at 337-988-1585 or toll free at 1-800-582-2435.
