Interventional Cardiologist
Dr. Amit Patel joined Cardiovascular Institute of the South in September of 2010 as an interventional cardiologist.
Dr. Patel completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery at Pramukh Swami Medical College in India. He began his post-graduate training at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, where he also completed his internal medicine residency. Additionally, Dr. Patel received his cardiovascular medicine fellowship and his interventional cardiology fellowship at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He served as chief resident and chief fellow during that time and was actively involved in teaching residents and fellows.
Dr. Patel is board certified in internal medicine, nuclear cardiology, cardiovascular disease, echocardiography, interventional cardiology and cardiac computed tomography. He is a member of many professional organizations including the American College of Cardiology, the American Medical Association, and the Indian Medical Council. He is actively involved in teaching medical students and residents at Baton Rouge General Hospital.
Dr. Patel specializes in coronary and peripheral arterial intervention. His special interest is in treating venous disease with venous ablation, sclerotherapy and phelbectomy.
