Interventional Cardiologist
Dr. Veerina joined Cardiovascular Institute of the South in July of 2005 as a staff cardiologist at the CIS Opelousas clinic.
Dr. Kalyan Veerina received his undergraduate degree and medical education from Nagarjuna University Guntur Medical College in his native India. His postgraduate training included a general internship at Guntur General Hospital in A.P. India and an internal medicine residency at St. Francis Medical Center in Pittsburgh. Dr. Veerina completed his cardiology fellowship at Episcopal Hospital and Temple University in Philadelphia.
Dr. Veerina completed his cardiovascular and peripheral interventional training at Cardiovascular Institute of the South in Houma. After completing his cardiology training, Dr. Veerina practiced cardiology for several years in Shreveport.
Dr. Veerina is board certified in endovascular medicine, cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology, and nuclear cardiology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society for Cardiac Angiography and Interventions. Dr. Veerina is also a member of the Society for Vascular Medicine and Louisiana State Medical Society.
