HOUMA, LA – On August 15, Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) is celebrating 41 years of treating cardiovascular disease for patients in south Louisiana and beyond.
Since Dr. Craig Walker founded CIS in Houma, Louisiana in 1983, CIS has significantly expanded its reach and impact, now operating 22 clinic locations and 10 telemedicine locations with a dedicated team of more than 1,000 members and 60 cardiologists across Louisiana and Mississippi. The mission of CIS is, and always has been, to provide the highest-quality cardiovascular care available. In the past four decades, CIS has lived this mission, as evident in its growth, technological advancements, research, education, community outreach, and most importantly, lives and limbs saved.
A world-leader in cardiovascular care, CIS continues to bring state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatments, with services such as in-clinic vein procedures, intensive cardiac rehab, virtual care, cardiac PET CT, new devices, office-based labs and an ambulatory surgery center.
“We set dreams and goals, and we sought to achieve them from the very beginning,” said Dr. Walker. “Our team has bought into that dream, and I still see patients who first saw us at our start. I cannot tell you how humbled I am, as I thank those who shared my dream and worked tirelessly to get where we are.”
“Forty-one years ago, Dr. Walker wrote a mission statement to provide the highest-quality cardiovascular care available,” said Ryan Hebert, CEO of CIS. “He is a true visionary, and through his commitment and efforts, he has made a significant impact in the advancement of cardiovascular care, in our region, across the country, and in the lives of our patients.”
