OPELOUSAS, LA – Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) is the first in Acadiana to use the RevCore™ Thrombectomy Catheter to treat venous stent thrombosis, when blood clots form in veins with previously implanted stents. Dr. David Homan performed the first procedure in the cath lab at Opelousas General Health System (OGHS).
Manufactured by Inari Medical, the RevCore™ Thrombectomy Catheter is the first mechanical thrombectomy device designed to treat in-stent venous thrombosis. Its unique design is made with a nitinol element to provide seamless interaction with implanted venous stents. This device allows complete control to remove blood clots precisely and efficiently.
“In-stent venous thrombosis is a lifelong malady unless corrected and, until RevCore, we didn’t have a sufficient device for treatment,” said Dr. Homan. “I’m happy we were able to address this patient’s in-stent venous thrombosis effectively and safely and obtain an excellent result. It’s important to have these options available for the patients at Opelousas General Health System.”
