Interventional Cardiologist
Dr. E. Michael Purvis is an interventional cardiologist at Cardiovascular Institute of the South in Meridian.
He earned his doctorate from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. His internal medicine internship and residency were completed at Keesler Medical Center at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi. He completed a fellowship in cardiology in San Antonio, Texas, at Wilford Hall Medical Center and Brooke Army Medical Center.
Dr. Purvis serves as the director of non-invasive cardiology at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian. His specialties include interventional cardiology, nuclear cardiology, and defibrillator and pacemaker implantation.
Dr. Purvis is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and nuclear medicine. He is currently working towards becoming an advanced fellow in anti-aging and regenerative medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the American College of Physicians and an advanced fellow of the American Academy of Antiaging Medicine. He is also a member of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology, and he has contributed to numerous medical publications.
Dr. Purvis previously worked as the chief of non-invasive cardiology at Keesler Medical Center. He was an instructor in medicine for five years at F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland. He also practiced in Panama City, Florida, at Tyndall AFB Hospital as an internal medicine physician.
He served as a major commissioned officer of the U.S. Air Force for 14 years. He was awarded a commendation medal in 1997 by Tyndall Air Force Base.
