Interventional Cardiologist
Dr. John Edavettal is an interventional cardiologist at Cardiovascular Institute of the South (CIS) in Lafayette.
He earned a Bachelor of Science degree at Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana, and a master’s degree at Boston University in Boston, Massachusetts. His doctorate was earned at Louisiana State University (LSU) School of Medicine in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he also completed an internal medicine residency.
Dr. Edavettal completed a fellowship in cardiology at San Antonio Uniformed Services Health Education Consortium in San Antonio, Texas. He completed an invasive/interventional cardiology fellowship at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and an interventional cardiology fellowship at LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Dr. Edavettal is certified in internal medicine, cardiology, and interventional cardiology. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps, working overseas and serving as the Chief of Cardiology Clinic at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany.
He has served as a guest lecturer for physicians in training and presented at regional, national, and international meetings. As a humanitarian, he also enjoys mission work and teaching.
