Interventional Cardiologist
Dr. Thomas Plavac is an interventional cardiologist at Cardiovascular Institute of the South in Meridian.
He completed his pre-medical education at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana. He earned both his master’s degree in biochemistry and his doctorate at the University of Miami in Florida.
Dr. Plavac’s post-graduate training began at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami, where he completed his internship and fellowship in internal medicine and was named chief resident.
He completed cardiology fellowships at Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio and St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. He also completed a fellowship in interventional angioplasty at St. Francis/Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas.
Dr. Plavac is board certified in internal medicine, cardiology, nuclear cardiology, interventional cardiology, cardiovascular computed tomography, and adult transthoracic/transesophageal echocardiography. He has practiced as a cardiologist for nearly 30 years. He has been awarded numerous honors, including the American Medical Association Physicians Recognition Award for Self-Directed Learning.
